I'm in yer profile favin yer merles.
I'm currently 17, and female. I love researching things like dog genetics, religion, mythology, and odd things (so I also love the paranormal). I love photography and taking pictures, though its more of a hobby for me. I've never really seen it as a profession though people have suggested I do pursue it as a career. My favorite subjects are dogs. They are so beautiful and expressive. I've found hunting dogs to be the most expressive and funny, but I haven't had much experience with other breeds. I do like poms too.
I hope one day I can really capture those expressions though, and share the fun I have with other people. As for taking pictures of people, I don't really like people, so I don't like taking pictures of people. I'm not very interested in photographs of people either, though when I come across them I usually do like them. I prefer nature and the natural world, things that make me happy; not what nets me the most cash. People seem to forget that the most famous and respected photographers are not those who are paid to take pictures of weddings, but there are some who laugh at others who do not make a career of their passion/hobby.
I love dogs, wolves, any canid creature. You could call it an infatuation I guess, because I find really anything that is canid, cute. I still laugh when I find the aggressive mean looking wolves in games, cute. I'm also developing more of an interest in cats. I'm relatively interested in breeding purebred cats, but some breeds I find rather horrid, such as the Siamese and Persian which are horribly incorrect anatomically wise. So far I'm most in love with Ragdolls.
I also breed mix dogs. I originally was breeding American Cocker Spaniels, but didn't like the cherry eyes and ear infections that were more than common, I swear. So I started trying to make a small dog that doesn't have health problems, is attached to humans but not sewn to the hip, isn't stubborn, low energy, and I could go on, but basically my dream dog. I don't like any of the merle small dogs, Pomeranians, Chihuahua's, and Dachshunds, so again am creating my own. I'm not very experienced with dog genetics, but I know a lot about the merle gene and similar genes in animals. I'm also aware of how healthy mixed dogs are compared to purebreds and how they are beneficial to dogs in general. Some may say otherwise, but since mixing, I have had less temperamental problems (Cockers are notorious for being possessive and unpredictable, I know one trainer who is always cautious with a cocker because of this), and a lot less health problems which are normally regarded as "things to live with" and are perfectly acceptable for a purebred dog, which I find appalling. Such things include cherry eyes, ear infections, and a horribly short nose with deep skin folds which are a petri dish for bacteria and yeast. So far I am liking the Shih Tzu x Ameri. Cocker mix the most. I would like to introduce more breeds to my line, but am quite apprehensive.
At one time I had dreams of starting a rescue, but after experiencing the wonderful attitudes of people in this industry, I have decided I will keep bringing "horrible mutts" into this world until I die, and not one penny or ounce of love will I ever donate to a shelter or rescue "in need". Sorry, but I'm sick and tired of being treated like dirt. Maybe when these people learn compromise and respect, will I reconsider, but that would require a conscience. Maybe one day they will learn that without breeders, you would have no dogs, and just because I am a breeder does not mean I am not allowed to have any concern, compassion, or love, for abandoned dogs.
